MIDDLE EAST WORKBOATS & OFFSHORE MARINE MAGAZINE BRINGS YOU COVERAGE OF THE VERY LATEST NEWS & VIEWS ON THE BURGEONING MARINE OFFSHORE & WORKBOATS MARITIME SECTORS.

The Middle East workboat market continues to thrive as the buoyant offshore sector embraces new drilling and enhanced oil recovery technologies and more jack-up rigs arrive in the region's waters. Tumbling oil prices, even if more than just a short-term blip, are unlikely to dent the market.Charterers are insisting on younger and more sophisticated vessels come what may.

Meanwhile, workboat demand in the booming on- and offshore civil construction and land reclamation sector is surging ahead. EPC contractors have never needed more tug/barge combinations, landing craft, lift-ships and dredgers. Vast civil engineering contracts from Kuwait in the upper Gulf through the GCC member nations to Oman, just outside the Gulf, will underpin a growing requirement for more service vessels of nay different types.

Despite the region's huge energy reserves, the sustainability drive gathers momentum. More efficient hull forms, gas-powered service craft, and a new region-specific notation from the UAE's young class society are all factors which are making waves in a sector which, historically, has been a haven for older, standard craft. Now, demand focused on larger workboats of increased sophistication.

New ports and terminals, more shipbuilders and repair yards are gearing up to meet the service requirements of the workboat sector. Equipment manufacturers, including some of the world's leading propulsion companies, dynamic-positioning system manufacturers, thruster specialists and maritime communications firms, are all growing their Middle East presence to meet the region's increasingly diverse demands.

Meanwhile, safety and security is rapidly climbing the business agenda of many vessel and marine installation operators. The possible opening of regional restricted markets is likely to add impetus to this drive. Seatrade's MEWBOM address's these issues, and many more, in its 2016 which is available for download now!
